- Hate sites, cyber bullying, and inappropriate content
- Citing sources, copyright and fair use
- Social networking and character development
Upon completion of this workshop you will be equipped with strategies fostering academic integrity and addressing ethical concerns in support of student learning in a technology enhanced environment. You will be able be to:
- explain issues related to a variety of cyber ethics topics;
- identify instructional strategies that reduce plagiarism and support academic integrity.
Questions to explore include:
- What instructional strategies minimize plagiarism and "cut & paste" student work?
- Can I ethically assign online work if not everyone has a home computer?
- How do copyright laws apply to what I use in my classroom?
- How does requiring correct citation of online sources improve the quality of students' work?
- How effective are Acceptable Use Policies (AUPs) relative to a school's legal liablity?
- How can character or cyber ethic education impact issues such as cyber bullying and online hate?
