Technical Considerations
No prior technical experience other than basic computer and Internet use is required. For example, workshop participants should be able to create and save documents in Microsoft Word (or another word processor) and have access to the Web.
Computer requirement:
PC or Mac
Browser requirement:
Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari and Netscape Navigator are supported. Other browsers may also be compatible.
Connectivity:
A broadband connection is preferred but not required. A lower bandwidth video/audio playback option is available for dial-up users.
No software is installed on the workshop participant's computer. An up-to-date version of the Flash player is required to play workshop videos.
Workshop Administrators
The workshop administrator is CyberSmart!'s designated local administrative contact within a school or district. Among other functions, workshop administrators assign initial passwords to the participants and are provided access to detailed reports in order to track participants' progress through the workshop, from initial login to workshop completion. The workshop administrator can also review data for an individual learner, school, or the entire district.
Technical Support
Our online learning is provided over the Internet and is supported by popular Web browsers. An up-to-date version of the "Flash" player along with working audio is also required to watch workshop videos. Although dial-up Internet access is acceptable, a broadband connection is strongly suggested to ensure the highest quality online experience.
"How to Take This Workshop " Multimedia Tutorial
As part of the online instruction during the first week of the workshop, Be CyberSmart! Professional Development includes a guided multimedia tutorial, "How to Take This Workshop." Here, workshop participants learn about the important operational components of the Be CyberSmart! online learning environment.
Very little technical instruction is necessary to perform the workshop activities themselves. Although Cybersmart! is glad to help you with operational questions related to the use of our workshop website, we do not provide technical support for your computer, software, or Internet connection.
