  • National Cyber Security Alliance, McAfee and CyberSmart! Education Team Up to Bring Cybersecurity Learning Resources to K-12 Classrooms

    The National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) – a non-profit public-private partnership focused on cybersecurity awareness and education for all digital citizens – in partnership with McAfee and CyberSmart! Education, today released several resources for K-12 schools nationwide to teach students about the importance of security and online safety.

  • ICT Qatar Supreme Council of Information and Communications Video Channel
    ICT Qatar Once again, ictQATAR interviews Executive Director, CyberSmart! Education, Mala Bawer. This time, Bawer discusses approaches to getting teachers more aware and receptive to cyber safety. Watch this in-depth interview if you are a school principal, a teacher or even a student who wants to discuss cyber safety with his or her teachers.

    "Through professional learning communities which create a structured environment conducive to promoting safety and digital citizenship; teachers can help prepare the kids for the 21st century. And this is possible only when teachers learn by the same model as children learn to adopt technology," Bawer said. "The training coupled with the right resources and tools can make teachers more comfortable—and competent—to address cybersafety issues with their students."

  • CyberSmart! Curriculum is now part of Common Sense Media
    Common Sense Media CyberSmart! is pleased to announce that the CyberSmart! Curriculum is now part of Common Sense Media’s education programs. Over the next year Common Sense will be enriching the CyberSmart! lesson plans, adding video, interactive components and a rich complement of parent resources to create an integrated K-12 Digital Literacy and Citizenship curriculum.

    CyberSmart! will continue to serve schools with 21st century solutions for teaching and learning with a focus on professional development options for educators—new teachers, experienced teachers, curriculum and technology integration coordinators, and administrators.     The Common Sense Media Digital Citizenship in a Connected Culture curriculum, like the existing Cybersmart! Student Curriculum is free to all educators.     In partnership with the National School Board's Technology Leadership Network , Character Education Partnership, National Association of School Psychologists, and the National Cyber Security Alliance launches the nation's first research-based cyberbullying prevention curriculum using best practices from the fields of cyber security, school violence prevention, and character education to impact behavioral change.
  • Gulf Times: Leading ICT experts to attend Doha Conference
    Experts from the Middle East, US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa - including Doug Brown and Gavin Dykes from Becta, the UK's government agency and Mala Bawer from CyberSmart!, a leading international education organization - will present at the Supreme Council for Information and Communication Technology (ictQATAR) and College of the North Atlantic-Qatar (CNA-Q).
